If you haven&#8217;t yet explored our website and understood what to expect from our residency, please go back and read about our location, our focus, and our program before deciding to apply. In particular the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sheepscotart.org\/index.php\/faq\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"194\">FAQ<\/a> page<\/strong> and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sheepscotart.org\/index.php\/nvo-art\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"400\">Visionary, Outsider, and Narrative Art<\/a> page<\/strong> can help you determine if our residency is the right fit for you. We have a limited amount of spaces and give preference to people who understand who we are, and are applying because they are interested in our specific offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please remember<\/strong>&#8211; our facilities are located in a variety of different buildings across our property. Every space has a lot to offer artists of all disciplines but due to the unconventional nature of the spaces, please make sure they will work for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Also note that we tend to prefer figurative styles of art over abstract, and really put an emphasis on looking for visual art that has a narrative or searching existential arc to it.<\/strong> <strong>We also love any art that tries to connect to worlds beyond this one.<\/strong> But,  we are open to considering your application if you feel this is the right space for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you are a writer <\/strong> Please be aware that while we accept writers, our main focus is the visual arts, therefore we limit the number of accepted writers to just a few per year. Read through our website to get a sense of who we are, and make sure that you are applying to us because you feel we are the right space for you. For Group Sessions, you will have an opportunity to request your preferred session date(s) on the application. If you are applying for an Individual Session, you are welcome to request a longer session as long as you also submit a clear proposal of how you will be using your time here. If you apply for more than 10 days, there is no guarantee that there will be space to accommodate that extra time, so you may be accepted for a shorter period of time than requested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are wait listed, you will receive notification when a spot opens up and if you are no longer available that spot will be offered to the next person on the list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stipends this year will average $250.00 with a max of $500.00.<\/strong> If you are accepted into the program there will be a space on the acceptance form to request a stipend. Everyone accepted into the program who needs a stipend will get one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please keep in mind that we are trying our hardest to create a program that limits the financial barriers that keep people from attending artist residencies. If you are a person who can easily afford this opportunity, and you choose not to receive a stipend, we will have more opportunity to help people who can&#8217;t attend without one. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The primary goal of our center is to support Group Residencies, we only have a limited amount of space for people to attend Individual Residencies between Group Sessions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the Application you can choose all of the sessions that work for you. <strong>Being flexible with your preferences gives you more of a chance of being accepted<\/strong> <strong>as each session has a limited number of spaces. <\/strong>Please check off all of the sessions you are able to attend, both Group and Individual Residency Sessions.  There is also space for you to let us know which sessions you would prefer to attend if accepted. We will do our best to honor your preferred dates and session type if you are accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are interested in an Individual Session you will choose a 10 period that works for you that falls within the available time frame. Or, you can list a date range you are available, and if accepted, we will fit you in where there is space. You can also request more than 10 days but if you do, you must submit a project proposal.  There is no guarantee we will be able to accommodate Individual Sessions of more than 10 days, so even if you request a longer period, you may only be accepted for 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-7cd0926f wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-2c3a3cc\" id=\"guidelines-for-the-application\" data-block-id=\"2c3a3cc\"><h4 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">Guidelines for the Application<\/h4><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The application process is not difficult but will take some time to complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To begin- Focus on why you would like to come here. Why this is the right space for you and how will you spend your time while here. This will help you navigate the questions on the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the questions need short answers and some ask for uploaded information. It is best to prepare all you will need for the application beforehand. Click the submit link, once you have figured out how you will answer the questions <strong>AND<\/strong> have all the material formatted and ready for upload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a $35 non refundable application fee that will be due at the time of submission. Once you have paid the fee and hit submit, your application is closed. Before you complete the process, please make sure that you have uploaded all of the necessary information and that you have represented yourself to the best of your ability.
