self-guided residencies
For 2025 we are only offering self-guided residencies. We are a new art center and are starting out slowly to make sure that we can offer the best opportunity for everyone who attends.
Self-Guided Residencies last for 7-10 days. Up to 3 artists will be on the property at the same time as you but you will not be part of an official cohort.
Artists who participate in a Self-Guided Residency live on the property and are given a private studio. Residents have use of the main kitchen, communal supplies, the laundry facilities, the library, and other communal spaces on the property. Residents are responsible for their own breakfast and lunch but are welcome to share meals with us at night. While it is not a requirement to have a car here, during an individual residency it is preferred. You will have to bring supplies with you, and we will be less available for town runs.
A basic difference between a Group Residency and a Self Guided Residency is that during the self-guided residency you are more on your own. Essentially, you will be a guest of the center who gets use of all the facilities. We are always available to you for anything you need but we will also be focused on residency center work and our own projects.
Dates on offer will be posted when we put out our annual calls. If you are flexible with your dates, it will give you more of a chance of getting a spot.
other opportunities
individual- Individuals can apply for more than one consecutive session, if you submit a specific project proposal that you plan to work on while here.
single parents– if you are a single parent, or have childcare responsibilities that give you limited time to pursue your art, we will try our best to accommodate the time you do have available, even if it’s only a few days. We will provide you with living accommodations, a quiet space to work, and meals throughout your stay.
*We do not have childcare facilities available, and can not accommodate your family but we will try our hardest to work around your schedule.
teams– We are currently not hosting groups of people but will be in the future. If you are interested in this opportunity please join our mailing list for future calls. You are considered a team if you are 2 or more people working on a collaborative project. Teams of up to 5 people have the opportunity to apply for one week. While we consider all group projects, we give preference to performers if your group consists of more than 2 people.
For collaborative teams, one of the people in your group must have a vehicle as you will be responsible for your own food and welfare. We will be on site the entire time to help you navigate whatever you need.
Day use– This is for Maine residents within driving distance of our center We offer day use of space either for a few consecutive days or once a week for a period of weeks. You do not need to fill out a formal application. When we have dates on offer they will be posted on this site and you can contact us directly for availability.
